Trend Alert; Dresses

Though we can't really call dresses a trend since they've always been around, and always will be, you only have to look around to see that these days, dresses are everywhere! A dress is really a great no-brainer of an outfit - no more matching tops and bottoms, just slip it on, and you're good to go!

But since different dress styles look good on different body types, here are a few guidelines to keep in mind when shopping for your dress-of-the-moment:

1. PETITE

Keep your dress simple and free from over-embellishment, so that it doesn't overwhelm your petie frame. A discreet empire cut also lengthens your body.

2. BOYISH / NO WAIST

Choose a dress with a very defined or cinched waist to create curves.

3. FLAT CHESTED

Look for dresses with ruching and shirring on the bust area to create the illusion of fullness.

4. BIG TUMMY

Go for a discreet empire-cut to disguise your tummy area, and make sure the dress skims rather than clings to your curves.

5. HEAVY ARMS

Look for billowy kimono or dollman sleeves. The volume on top will make your lower arms look slender.

6. LONG & LEAN

Lucky you - amost any type of dress would look great on a long and lean frame! So have fun and go for a variety of looks to suit whatever your mood for the day.

7. CURVY ALL OVER
Go for dresses that are neither too tight nor too loose. Instead, choose shapes that skim your body. Wrapdresses and shirtdresses are your best bets.

Hi guys, thanks! Sorry to disappoint you, but the photos I used are just dresses for sale on the internet, for illustration purposes -- but for locally available dresses in various styles, I suggest you check out Topshop, Warehouse, Mango, Zara, Cult Femme, Sinequanone, Tyler, Ensembles, Karimadon, Bayo, Mphosis, K & Co, The Ramp at Crossings, and so much more! =) Or just drop by your local mall and go store to store -- dresses are so hot now that all your fave stores are bound to have them! I'm a fan of DVF-style wrapdresses these days. They're perfect for work, dates, and anything in between!

Hi Wella! I love your blog! Where are the stores of Warehouse? I've been wanting to check out their stuff but don't know where to find them. Thanks!

Warehouse is located in Podium, along ADB Avenue in Ortigas Center. I hope they put up more branches soon!

P.S. Chocolate also has great casual dresses -- a lot of them are super flattering too!
